From 1 to 5 July 2019 it was held in Kotor (Montenegro) the Summer School entitled: “Study Blue: Emerging technologies, trends & opportunities”, promoted by Interreg MED Blue Growth Community and University of Montenegro – Institute for marine biology.

During these 5 days, 29 participants from 13 Mediterranean countries worked on the five main thematic pillars of Blue Growth: Blue Energy, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Maritime Surveillance, Maritime Spatial planning and Coastal and Maritime Tourism; and on a common fictional case study inspired from the Greek island of Lemnos. The event had a multidisciplinary approach that allowed participants to combine interactive workshop sessions and rigorous academic training with a unique technical expertise.

The event ended with a graduation ceremony and the delivery of a graduation certificate to each participant.

The Summer School was addressed to young graduate students, researchers, professionals, public servants and practitioners in specialized fields related to the blue economy. This first edition of the Summer School encouraged the participants to get involved in Blue Economy sectors by offering high-quality technical knowledge, fostering their entrepreneurial spirit and reinforcing the attractiveness of maritime jobs. Some of Maestrale partners were involved as key lecturers, and a presentation of Maestrale main results and pilot projects was done.
